I Love Photographing In “Bad” Weather

Hi Everyone,

Like most photographers, I like shooting when the weather is nice, there’s fluffy clouds in the sky, and I don’t have to worry about being too hot or too cold. But I also like to photograph in “bad” weather. Shooting in the rain, snow, lightning storms, and powerful winds is a lot of fun, too.

Some of my favorite shots were taken in rain and snow storms. I get images with lightning, fog, snow, rain, hail and rainbows. While shooting in bad weather presents challenges, such as: protecting my gear, and myself, it’s worth it. I get to capture the raw power of Nature, and I also get to photograph a part of nature that I don’t usually see. I live in Arizona, so sunny days are the norm. Getting a chance to see any other kind of weather is exciting.

This was taken from the Little Painted Desert, Arizona. It was the last photo I took of this storm as my wife kept yelling at me to get into the car.
