The Grand Canyon

This is a 1 mile deep, 277 mile long gorge, formed from over 6,000,000 years of erosion, and containing over 100 named rapids. Exposed horizontal geological strata in the canyon span some 2,000,000,000 years of geological history, exposing the four major geological eras; late Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic.
